Janhvi Kapoor has strongly condemned a disturbing AI-altered video of the song ‘Chuttamalle’ that is going viral online. In a long Instagram note, the actress called the clip “deeply violating” and spoke against the misuse of technology to objectify women. She also thanked her co-star Jr NTR for taking a stand.

Janhvi Kapoor calls the AI clip of ‘Chuttamalle’ deeply violating

The video uses AI to change Janhvi Kapoor’s appearance and create sexually explicit imagery that was never part of the original song. In her statement, she wrote, “The criminal misuse of technology to objectify women and circulate fictionalised content without consent is deeply violating, bordering on sexual assault. Almost every woman in my industry has faced some version of this, and women everywhere are increasingly being subjected to it. Consent, choice and respect for a woman’s body should be among the most basic notions of humanity. Yet somehow, they continue to be treated as complicated. They are not.”She added, “It is surprising that it still seems too nuanced for some people to understand that even if a woman says yes five days in a row and no on the sixth, that no must be respected. If she happens to wear a miniskirt, it does not give anyone permission to put a camera up her skirt, capture violating angles or visually exploit her body. What a woman is comfortable with, where she draws the line and what she chooses to do with her body are decisions that belong exclusively to her. This is basic.”

Janhvi Kapoor says, ‘This goes far beyond the AI videos I have dealt with’

Janhvi Kapoor explained that the issue is bigger than the AI videos she has faced. Her long caption further read, “It is about the larger reality of being a woman, the gaze, the judgement, the constant negotiation for safety, and the feeling that our boundaries somehow remain open to interpretation. That threat has now expanded into the digital sphere, when we have not even adequately addressed the very real, physical fear that continues to disrupt the lives of women every day.“She said that telling women to protect themselves, or telling parents to “protect your daughter”, is not enough. According to her, the mindset that makes people feel entitled to cross someone’s boundaries must also be challenged.

Janhvi Kapoor thanks Jr NTR for taking a stand

Janhvi Kapoor also thanked her ‘Devara’ co-star Jr NTR for speaking up. She wrote, “I am deeply touched by NTR sir for taking such a strong stand and condemning this violation. Thank you, sir. When someone whom millions look up to speaks up about something that may not directly concern him, it makes a difference to every woman who has experienced some degree of this behaviour.”She also thanked other film personalities. “Thank you also to Chiranjeevi sir, Vijay and Khushbu ma’am for amplifying that sentiment and calling for action against this mentality and these immoral practices. I hope everything unfolding around us right now forces those who participate in any form of harassment to introspect. Is it really too much for a woman to ask to simply be treated and seen as a human being? Her body. Her image. Her boundaries. Her choice,” she wrote.

Jr NTR slams the morphed video

Earlier, Jr NTR strongly condemned the clip, calling it ‘disgusting, sick and shameless.’ He wrote, “In a land that worships women as mothers and goddesses, where “Matrudevo Bhava” is not just a phrase but a part of our culture, some people have fallen so low that they are using AI to disrespect a woman in the most degrading way possible. Using AI to create something this vile is shameful beyond words,” he wrote. He also warned of legal action against those behind the video. “To the scumbags behind this morphed Chuttamalle video, I will not spare any of you. I will take every possible legal action against those who created it and those who are spreading it. Please do not watch, share or engage with such content. Today it is someone else. Tomorrow, it could be your mother, sister, wife or daughter. This is a serious issue, and I urge all the state governments and the Government of India to act strongly and bring in strict regulations against the misuse of AI,” he wrote. The song featured in their film ‘Devera: Part 1’, which was released on September 27, 2024.
