Salman Khan starrer ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace’ remains in post-production, with the makers yet to lock the film’s final cut or submit it to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). According to a recent report, composer Ravi Basrur is currently working on the background score, while changes to the film are still being incorporated. With the final cut and certification still pending, the Salman Khan-led film does not have a confirmed release date yet.

According to a source close to the development, the film is currently being worked on at multiple levels, including its background score, while changes requested during the editing process are being incorporated.Variety India has reported that composer Ravi Basrur is currently working on the background score at Octavia Studios. The makers, meanwhile, are yet to lock the final version of the film, with the changes being made before the project reaches its certification stage.

The film will be submitted to the CBFC only after final approvals

The film’s certification process is expected to begin only once the final cut has been approved. The report indicated that ‘Maatrubhumi’ will be sent to the Central Board of Film Certification after the makers complete the pending changes and give their final approval to the film.As the certification process has not yet begun, there is currently no confirmed release window for the Salman Khan starrer. The makers are expected to decide on the theatrical release only after the final cut is locked and the film moves ahead with certification.

Maatrubhumi has undergone several changes since it was announced as ‘Battle of Galwan‘

The latest update comes after the project underwent a significant evolution from the time it was first announced as ‘Battle of Galwan’. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salman Khan Films, the film is inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops.Salman Khan plays an Indian Army officer in the film, which also stars Chitrangda Singh. The project was originally scheduled to release theatrically on April 17, 2026. However, that release date passed without the film arriving in cinemas as the makers continued to work on the project.In March, the makers announced its new title, ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace’, along with a new poster, signalling a shift in the film’s positioning from its earlier Battle of Galwan identity.

‘Maatrubhumi’ has no confirmed release date yet

At present, ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace’ does not have a confirmed theatrical release date. The film still has several stages to complete, including the background score, incorporation of the ongoing changes, locking of the final cut and certification by the CBFC. Only after these steps are completed will the makers be in a position to determine a suitable theatrical window. Until then, the Salman Khan-led project remains in post-production.

Salman Khan’s current work slate

Khan has also begun work on an action drama tentatively titled ‘SVC63’ with reports suggesting the working title to be ‘Monster’, directed by Vamshi Paidipally and produced by Dil Raju. Nayanthara, Anil Kapoor and Arvind Swamy are reported to be part of the film, which is being positioned for an Eid 2027 release. A superhero film with Raj and DK is also reported to be in the pipeline, and Salman is expected to continue as host of ‘Bigg Boss 20’.
