‘Dog bless Barron’: Satire website calls for President’s son Barron Trump to go to war
A website by the name DraftBarronTrump.com has called for President Donald Trump’s son Barron Trump to join the war in the Middle East after the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran and three US service members were killed in the conflict. The satirical website is full of false quotes attributed to President Trump and his sons, Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump. A TikToker claimed that South Park writer Toby Morton launched the site to target Barron Trump.“This site is dedicated to honoring the strongest and bravest voices in war. When power is projected abroad, it is only right that strength exists at home. If you’re looking for proven genes, inherited courage, and unquestionable resolve, look no further than the Trump family. Leadership starts somewhere,” the ‘about us’ of the site read, along with a photo of Donald Trump, where he could be seen with his eyes closed. “America is strong because its leaders are strong. President Trump proves that every day. Naturally, his son Barron is more than ready to defend the country his father so boldly commands. Service is honor. Strength is inherited. Dog Bless Barron,” the site said. The US has not had a military draft since 1973. A draft would need to be authorized by both the president and Congress. Several presidents have had sons who have served in the US military. Theodore Roosevelt Jr, son of President Theodore Roosevelt, served in World Wars I and II, after his father left office. Roosevelt’s son Quentin Roosevelt also served as a pilot in WWI and was killed in action. President Dwight Eisenhower’s son John Eisenhower served in WWII and Korea. President Joe Biden’s son, Beau Biden, served in Iraq, prior to his father’s presidency.“People come up to me, with tears in their eyes, and they say, ‘Sir, you’re the strongest. Send Barron off to war’ I’ve always been strong. Very strong. Stronger than anyone expected. Some say the strongest ever. And strength matters. Believe me,” a false quote attributed to President Trump on the site said.
