Director Nia DaCosta recently opened up about her feelings regarding the film’s performance and admitted she was disappointed by the response.

In a recent interview with Empire, DaCosta shared that expectations surrounding the film were extremely high before its release, with all indicators suggesting strong audience excitement.However, the film’s global box office performance left both her and the team disappointed.She said, “I made a great film, and I’m really proud of it, and people liked it. My friend said to me years ago, ‘Nia, your career is for you to enjoy,’ and I really have been trying to put that into practice and take that to heart over the course of the past few years.”The filmmaker also spoke about learning to deal with public reactions to her work and accepting that audiences will always have varying opinions. Despite the film’s commercial performance, she emphasised that she remains proud of the project and genuinely enjoyed making it.“When this came out, and it didn’t do as well in terms of the money it made, I was disappointed. But I was also like, ‘I’m so happy that when people find the film, they’re going to enjoy the film.’ I wish it made more money, but I’m really proud of it,” she added.According to Box Office Mojo, the film earned around USD 58.5 million worldwide. Reports suggest that the movie struggled to recover its estimated production budget of USD 63 million.

Plot and cast of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

The film features a major ensemble cast including Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, and a cameo appearance by Cillian Murphy, who was part of the earlier films in the franchise.The story follows Spike, a young survivor who becomes entangled in the cult led by the psychopathic Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal. Meanwhile, Dr. Kelson continues working on a possible cure that could finally help end the apocalypse.
