PSEB Class 12 result 2026 out: 91.46% pass, Sukhneet Kaur, Suhani Chauhan and Divanshi score perfect 500, girls outperform boys by 6.21%
The Punjab School Education Board has declared the Class XII examination results for the March 2026 session. A total of 2,65,417 students appeared for the examination, of whom 2,42,755 cleared the exams, taking the overall pass percentage to 91.46.Girls recorded a higher success rate than boys in the Senior Secondary examination. The pass percentage among girls stood at 94.73, while boys registered 88.52 per cent. All six transgender candidates who appeared in the examination cleared it, resulting in a 100 per cent pass percentage in that category.Overall performance improves from previous yearThe board recorded a slight rise in the overall result compared to the previous academic session. In 2024-25, the overall pass percentage was 91.00, while the figure increased to 91.46 in 2025-26.
The number of candidates placed in compartment stood at 17,495, accounting for 6.59 per cent of the total appeared candidates. A total of 5,109 students failed the examination, while 58 results were withheld.
Girls outperform boys in board examinationsAmong gender categories, girls continued to maintain a higher pass percentage. Out of 1,25,695 girls who appeared, 1,19,073 passed the examination. Among boys, 1,23,676 students cleared the exams out of 1,39,716 candidates.Candidates from rural areas registered a marginally better performance than those from urban regions. Rural schools recorded a pass percentage of 91.63, while urban areas posted 91.24 per cent.Government schools registered a pass percentage of 91.41. Non-government schools recorded the highest success rate among school categories at 92.68 per cent, while aided schools posted 88.44 per cent.
Commerce and Science streams record highest resultsThe Commerce stream recorded the highest pass percentage among regular candidates at 98.78 per cent. Science followed closely with 98.47 per cent. Humanities and Vocational streams registered pass percentages below 88 per cent.
Students secure full marks in state merit list Sukhneet Kaur of Government Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Boha in Mansa district, secured 500 out of 500 marks in the Science stream and emerged among the state toppers in the PSEB Class XII examination. Suhani Chauhan of B.C.M. Senior Secondary School, Jamalpur Colony, Ludhiana, and Divanshi of Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Senior Secondary School, Shimlapuri, Ludhiana, also scored a perfect 500 out of 500 in the Humanities stream.
Among district toppers, Tarannum Kaur Thind of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Kapurthala, secured 498 marks out of 500, while Nisha Rani of Government Senior Secondary School, Mauran, Barnala, and Navroop Kaur of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Senior Secondary School, Kandial, Gurdaspur, scored 496 marks each. Swapandeep Kaur Sidhu from Bathinda secured 494 marks, while Nitika Kapoor from Amritsar and Gurpreet Kaur from Faridkot scored 493 marks each in their respective district merit lists.
