Every year, there are twelve Purnima celebrations. Hindus have a high religious and spiritual value on Vat Purnima. Married women follow the nirjala fast from sunrise to sunset on Vat Purnima, a very auspicious day for their husbands’ longevity and well-being. Unmarried women might also follow the fast in order to find their ideal spouse. They revere the banyan tree called Vat Vriksha.
