Congress hits out at Shah for demanding apology
NEW DELHi: Attacking home minister Amit Shah for demanding an apology over the Vande Mataram row, Congress claimed the minister had insulted Bhimrao Ambedkar’s memory in Rajya Sabha and that he owes allegiance to an organisation that did not unfurl the tricolour at its headquarters till 2002 – in what were allusions to Shah’s controversial comments in the Upper house in Dec 2024 and to the RSS.AICC spokesperson Jairam Ramesh alleged, “A man who insulted Ambedkar on the floor of the Rajya Sabha on December 17, 2024. A man who belongs to an ideology that did not see it fit to unfurl the tiranga at its headquarters till January 2002. A man who orchestrated the Delhi Police’s brutalities on peacefully protesting youth. Such a man is now demanding an apology from the Congress to divert attention away from the real issues of the day and away from colossal failures of his and his Sahib’s.” TNN
