Amaal Mallik has announced that he is taking a break from film music for the time being. The composer and singer, who recently lent his voice to ‘Yeh Awarapan’ from the Emraan Hashmi-starrer ‘Awarapan 2,’ shared the update on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday and asked fans not to “pester” him with questions about the decision.

Sharing a lengthy note, Amaal said he wants to prioritise his health and well-being before returning to music.“I am all good & I will go all the way in, this time, to do what is best for me & only do what is important to my heart & for my health. Need a break for my mind, body, soul and overall physical healing. Need to rise, recuperate and bounce back soon with a heart full of melodies for you all my dearest #Amaalians,” he wrote.The singer did not indicate that he is quitting music. Instead, he said he needs time to rest, heal and return with a renewed focus on the music that matters to him.

Amaal clarified that he will not be taking up film compositions until next year. However, songs he has already recorded but which have not yet been released will continue to come out when the respective films are released.He also pointed out that some of these projects are smaller-budget films made with good intentions. However, such movies can face difficulties in securing theatrical screens, leaving the fate and release of their music uncertain.

Amaal also made a direct request to fans to give him some space while he takes his break.“Please request you not to pester me any further. Will update as I get to know. Music se cinema tak ka safar mujhe bohot door le aaya hai, ab music ki taraf wapas chalne laga hoon…. Ab mujhe Vida Karo, I’ll be back Anyway signing off for a bit…,” he wrote.He ended the post with a reference to his recent song, signing off as “The Creator of #YehAwarapan.”
