Jackie Shroff has become no less than a plant guru and unofficial ambassador of nature. He is often spotted carrying a pot of plants as a present to offer to whichever party he goes to; if not that, then his spider plant necklace never ceases to steal the spotlight!

Jackie Shroff shares a will for his plants

Recently, he brought a smile to his fan’s face by sharing his “Last Will & Testament” on his Instagram Stories, with his plants as the star beneficiaries!Dated September 1, 2026, the document opened in formal legal language: “I, Jackie Shroff, son of Shri Kakubhai Shroff, residing at Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, being of sound mind and body, do hereby declare this to be my Last Will and Testament”, on his Instagram story.Under a section titled “Care and Guardianship,” the mock will named his Spider Plant as the keeper of his farmhouse, stating, “The farmhouse shall remain in the care of beloved Spider Plant”.He also set aside a dramatic sum for garden upkeep, with the “Financial Provisions” clause reading, “A sum of Rs. 99 lakhs to be set aside for the composting section in the farmhouse and all the gardening tools”.A further clause promised “a lifetime budget allocated for all my plants, pots, and gardener,” while the “General” section summed up his sentiment simply, “My plants are my family. They must be nurtured, protected and loved always.”True to his personality, Jackie signed off the joke document with a disclaimer that read, “DIL PE MAT LE, JUST A JOKE SHROFF.”

The man behind the green persona

Shroff runs an organic farm where he grows his own plants, trees and herbs, and has spoken about how grounding the habit is for him. “Being called a ‘Plant Zaddy’ is a badge of honour. Plants have taught me patience and kept me grounded,” he told IANS.His advocacy also extends to structured platforms. “My plants are my family, my pets. They also need shade and water. We have to nurture and take care of them. They give us oxygen, so they are your buddies. Let’s make the globe a lovely garden,” says Shroff. He started an online campaign in 2020 through an Instagram initiative, ‘Ped Lagao Bhidu’; he continues to push the idea of tree plantation and environmental responsibility, and in August 2025, gardening platform Ugaoo named him its brand ambassador.
