The emphasis on peace came at a diplomatically sensitive moment. India is hosting the Brics summit against the backdrop of the conflict involving Israel, Iran and other actors in the region. Iran is a member of Brics, and Modi held talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in New Delhi Friday.India has also expanded its strategic partnership with Israel in defence, technology, agriculture and innovation. New Delhi has sought to maintain this relationship while continuing engagement with Iran and Arab countries and reiterating its support for a negotiated two-state solution to the Palestine conflict.
