CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke detained as he tries to leave for CP’s ‘Tiranga Yatra’.

NEW DLEHI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke was taken into preventive detention shortly after leaving the residence where he was staying to attend the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ at Delhi’s Connaught Place (CP).As Dipke left the residence of NCP-SCP spokesperson Anish Gawande, a police official told him, “We are placing you under preventive detention. Section 163 is in force in Connaught Place. You are being detained.”Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) restricts gatherings or specific activities in a designated area.“I’m alone, what law did I break,” Dipke asked before he was detained.Meanwhile, Rajeev Ranjan, additional CP, Delhi Police PRO said: “I would like to clarify that no one has approached us regarding this matter. We have not received any communication or request concerning a specific list of individuals…The Flag Code has been officially notified and mandates that the national flag must be hoisted with the utmost respect. All the rules stipulated in the Flag Code have been notified and are available in the public domain. In fact, just a short while ago, we shared a post on social media outlining the precautions that every Indian citizen should take when hoisting the national flag.”He also criticised those selectively sharing photographs or videos of police officers performing their duties, calling it “entirely inappropriate and illegal”.“Sharing the personal information of any police officer—or, for that matter, any individual—on social media in this manner is a clear violation of their privacy. It has come to our notice that certain social media accounts are selectively sharing photographs or videos of police officers performing their duties, along with their personal information. This is entirely inappropriate and illegal,” Rajeev Ranjan said.According to officials, a notice issued on behalf of the New Delhi district authorities under the Delhi Police Act directed people not to visit Central Park, citing the restrictions in force under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
