Esha Deol says she is ‘currently missing’ love, credits Hema Malini and Dharmendra for shaping her idea of romance: ‘He’s in my heart’ |
Esha Deol has admitted that love and romance are something she is “currently missing” in her life, while revealing that her belief in relationships remains firmly rooted in the example set by her parents, veteran stars Hema Malini and Dharmendra.Speaking on Curly Tales, Esha described herself as a hopeless romantic despite experiencing heartbreak and personal setbacks.“I think love and romance are the most important things in a person’s life, which I am currently missing. I love to be romantic. I am a complete rom-com person. I love love songs and I love love stories,” she said. When asked whether her idea of love had changed over the years, especially after breakups and the end of her marriage to Bharat Takhtani, Esha said it had not.“No, these things don’t change. Breakups happen. I have had boyfriends in the past whom I broke up with. These things happen, but that doesn’t dilute my ultimate idea of love,” she said.
‘We grew up seeing unconditional love’
The actress revealed that growing up watching her parents’ relationship shaped her expectations of love and companionship.“We all grew up seeing the unconditional love between Hema ji and Dharmendra ji,” Esha shared.Reflecting on their bond, she added, “There was dignity to it. There was respect in it and there was unconditional love. We all have loved Dharmendra ji so much. I don’t know how I have held myself together today. I mean, I love him and he is in my heart.” Esha also spoke fondly about the values instilled in her by Dharmendra, saying one of the most important lessons he taught her was to never compromise on dignity and self-respect.“The best advice he gave me was to always hold your dignity and self-respect. These were two words we always used,” she said, adding, “And regarding the relationship between sisters, he always said there should be love and affection between all of you. These words come at the right time and hit you hard.”
