Indian kurash player Yash Kumar Chauhan has been provisionally suspended after returning an adverse analytical finding for multiple banned substances from a sample collected during the Asian Games on September 27, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) announced on Saturday.The 24-year-old’s sample, tested by the International Testing Agency (ITA) on behalf of the OCA, was found to contain metabolites of Metandienone and GW1516, along with Mephentermine and its metabolite.Asian Games Full Coverage | Schedule | Medal Tally“The ITA, on behalf of the OCA, reports that a sample collected from kurash athlete Yash Kumar Chauhan (IND) has returned an Adverse Analytical Finding for non-specified prohibited substances Metandienone metabolites, GW1516 metabolites, Mephentermine and its metabolite,” the OCA said in a statement.Chauhan has been provisionally suspended with immediate effect pending the resolution of the case under the World Anti-Doping Code and OCA Anti-Doping Rules. The suspension prevents him from competing, training, coaching or participating in any activity during the Asian Games.Metandienone, an anabolic-androgenic steroid derived from testosterone, is prohibited at all times under the WADA Code. GW1516 is also prohibited at all times, while Mephentermine is a non-specified stimulant prohibited in competition.The OCA said Chauhan has the right to challenge the provisional suspension before the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s Anti-Doping Division. He can also request analysis of his B-sample.The kurash competition at the Asian Games was held from September 26 to 29. Chauhan competed in the men’s 90kg category and lost to Tajikistan’s Mirmamadov Shakarmamad in the round of 16 on September 27, the day his sample was collected.India won one medal in kurash at the Games, with Pincky Balhara claiming bronze in the women’s 78kg category.
