Julia Garner, who recently rose to fame for her work in the horror film ‘Weapons,’ recently opened up about another project of hers. For months, she had been connected with the biopic on Madonna’s life and had been cast to play the pop icon herself in the movie. However, after months of uncertainty, Madonna herself had shared that due to budget issues and many other factors, the project was being scrapped for now. However, Garner has her own opinions on the matter and how the film should happen.

The 32-year-old actress recently opened up about the biopic while talking to ELLE on September 8. During the interview, she shared how she still has hope that the project will get the backing it needs to get back into development. She shared, “I think the movie has to get made. But we’ll see…”While the biopic is still a hot topic to touch on, Garner and Madonna worked on the screen together for ‘The Studio’ season 2, where Seth Rogen was inspired by the plight the singer went through to get the movie made and added his own version of it all to the show. Madonna returned to the screen briefly for the first time in 23 years for the show and shared the screen with Julia. While talking about the experience and filming in Venice with the singer, Garner shared that she had an amazing experience.She commented, “It was beyond! I always say it’s fine with the Italian queen! It was incredible. I’ve never had an experience like that. Food’s terrible, by the way. I had some of the worst Italian food in my life. But Venice is incredible. She’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. Like actually. And people don’t know that.”During the interview, Garner also commented on how she has been busy with work ever since the year began and how grateful she is for everything. ‘The Altruists’ actress added, “Since January, I’ve been working almost every day. The more time goes on, I just kind of want to push it even more, and more, and more.”

The project was first reportedly in development in 2023, with the pop icon getting involved in the development of the biopic. Over the years, reports revealed that the project was being done in the form of a movie; however, some later reports revealed that the plan had changed to work on a series.However, earlier this year, Madonna herself confirmed that the biopic had been scrapped altogether. The biopic also had a lot of drafts ready, which even included scripts written by Diablo Cody and Erin Cressida Wilson.While talking to Interview in June, the singer had commented, “I’ve had an extraordinary life. I’ve had a huge life, so I needed a big budget. You know what I mean? I was supposed to make a movie about my life. I worked on my script for two years and spent two years at Universal Studios with the line producers doing budgeting and casting.”As of right now there have been no confirmed reports of whether the biopic will get made or not.
