Karan Johar is rumored to debut at the Met Gala 2026 alongside a strong Indian contingent in May. This year, the theme is “Costume Art,” with a dress code of “Fashion Is Art.” The unique showcase will feature around 200 garments alongside 200 art objects to explore fashion as an embodied art form.

According to the Variety India report, Karan Johar will join regular attendee Natasha Poonawalla and the celebrated fashion designer Manish Malhotra at the event, which is scheduled for May 4, 2026, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan.The filmmaker is expected to wear a custom outfit created by Malhotra for the star-studded event. However, an official announcement is still awaited.The report further stated, “It would be interesting to see KJo at Met Gala as he is quite fashionable and never hesitates to experiment with his sartorial choices.”Johar is no stranger to the conversation around fashion’s biggest night.
