Ravi Mohan’s upcoming film ‘Karathey Babu’ has reportedly encountered another hurdle ahead of its theatrical release. The political drama, directed by Ganesh K Babu of ‘Dada’ fame, has faced repeated changes to its release plans. Now, reports suggest the film ran into censor-related issues over certain scenes that may refer to contemporary political leaders. This latest development has raised fresh questions about the film’s release, as the makers have yet to announce a confirmed date.

‘Karathey Babu’ was sent to the Revising Committee after censor issues

According to Dinamalar, the makers recently submitted ‘Karathey Babu’ for censor certification as they planned to release it this month. However, the examining committee reportedly raised objections to certain scenes that allegedly resemble references to current political party leaders. Following these concerns, the film has reportedly been sent to the revising committee for further review. The committee’s decision will determine the next step in the certification process. An official confirmation from the makers regarding the reported objections is awaited, leaving the film’s release plans uncertain.

Ravi Mohan’s ‘Karathey Babu’ faces repeated release delays

The film was initially planned for a summer release, and its teaser was unveiled in January. The political content sparked discussions among viewers, with many speculating about the real-life personalities that might have inspired the story. The makers later announced August 28 as the release date, but the film did not arrive in theaters as planned. Around ten days later, the team announced that it would release soon without revealing a new date. With the reported censor concerns now adding to the uncertainty, fans will have to wait for an update on when the film will reach cinemas.

About the ‘Karathey Babu’ cast and crew

Directed by Ganesh K Babu, ‘Karathey Babu’ features Ravi Mohan in the lead role, alongside Thavudhi Jiwal and others. Although the makers have kept several story details under wraps, the teaser established the film’s political backdrop and triggered widespread curiosity. The reported certification hurdles also bring to mind Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan,’ which faced similar issues and release delays. Now it looks like the revising committee’s verdict on ‘Karathey Babu’ will be kept in mind, as this can assist in taking future decisions regarding certification and the film’s re-release.
