Educational institutions in several districts of Uttar Pradesh have been ordered to remain closed temporarily as district administrations implement safety and traffic management measures during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. Schools, colleges, universities and technical institutions in Meerut, Ghaziabad and Baghpat have received closure directions due to increased movement of Kanwar pilgrims on major routes.The closure decisions have been issued by respective district authorities to manage public movement during the Shravan Shivratri period. Muzaffarnagar had also announced a similar closure earlier, with institutions directed to suspend regular academic activities during the pilgrimage period.Meerut suspends classes till August 12The Meerut administration has ordered the closure of all educational institutions from August 4 to August 12. The directive issued by District Magistrate V K Singh covers schools for students from Classes 1 to 12, including institutions affiliated with the Basic Shiksha Parishad, Uttar Pradesh Board, CBSE, CISCE, Madrassa Board and other recognised boards.Government and private colleges, universities and technical institutions have also been included under the order. The administration stated that the decision was taken after assessing the movement of a large number of Kanwar pilgrims through the district.However, examinations that were already scheduled will continue according to the announced timetable. Institutions have been allowed to conduct such examinations despite the temporary suspension of regular classes.Ghaziabad announces closure across educational institutionsIn Ghaziabad, educational institutions have been directed to remain closed from August 4 to August 12. The order applies to schools from Nursery to Class 12, colleges, universities and technical institutions across the district.The directive covers institutions affiliated with the Basic Education Board, Uttar Pradesh Board, CBSE, ICSE, Madrassa Board and other recognised boards. The district administration issued the order after increased Kanwariya movement was reported on several routes.Like Meerut, Ghaziabad authorities have permitted institutions to conduct examinations that had already been scheduled before the closure announcement.

Baghpat and Muzaffarnagar issue similar ordersThe Baghpat administration has announced the closure of government and private schools from Classes 1 to 12 between August 3 and August 12. The order was issued by District Inspector of Schools Rajeev Kumar Yadav following directions from District Magistrate Asmita Lal. The closure applies to institutions affiliated with all recognised education boards.Earlier, Muzaffarnagar had also directed schools and colleges to remain closed from August 3 to August 10 due to heavy Kanwar Yatra movement in the region.Authorities instruct institutions to follow directionsDistrict administrations have asked educational institutions and concerned departments to comply with the closure orders and coordinate with local authorities during the pilgrimage period. The measures have been implemented to regulate traffic movement and maintain safety arrangements while the Kanwar Yatra continues.
