The results were announced on October 20, 2026, with candidates worldwide notified of their performance.First-time candidates record higher pass rateCandidates taking the Level 3 examination for the first time recorded a pass rate of 56%, outperforming those who had deferred at least once. The latter group recorded a pass rate of 31%. The ten-year average pass rate for the examination stands at 50%.CFA Institute Managing Director of Education Chris Wiese congratulated successful candidates and highlighted the importance of sound judgement, technical expertise and ethical standards in the investment profession. He also noted the commitment required to complete the programme alongside employment and other responsibilities.Three specialised pathways offeredCandidates appearing for the August 2026 Level 3 examination selected one of three specialised pathways: Portfolio Management, Private Wealth or Private Markets. According to CFA Institute, all three pathways follow equally rigorous requirements and lead towards the same CFA charter.The examination was conducted in person at 482 proctored computer-based testing venues across 389 cities in 114 markets worldwide. The August testing period also included CFA Level 1 and Level 2 examinations. Level 1 results were released on September 24, 2026, while Level 2 results were announced on September 30, 2026.
